In 1975, the first Lawrence Jewelers store was opened by Lawrence (Larry) and Nancy Schlager in downtown Port Huron, Michigan. This location on Main Street was great, with nearby businesses such as McMorran Auditorium, Sperrys, Dianna’s Sweet Shop and the St. Clair County Community College. Larry’s simple shop, fronted by glass display windows, was the start of a family business that lives on through three generations.

Larry opened another Lawrence Jewelers store in 1985 in Sandusky, MI, about one hour north of Port Huron. His original downtown store would eventually move to the Farmer Jack shopping plaza in 1990, on the north end of Port Huron. It remained at that location until 1997, when he opened up in the Birchwood Mall in Fort Gratiot. The superstore in Frankenmuth, MI opened in 2005...Frankenmuth Diamond and Gem Gallery.
